Stake App: What Exists on Each Platform, and What Does Not

Is there a Stake app to download?

There is an iOS build on the Apple App Store and there is no native Android app: Stake publishes no APK and has no Google Play listing, so on Android you install the site as a home-screen app (PWA) instead. Stake's own support page sets the minimums at Android 12 and iOS 16; the iOS download is listed at 37.7 MB, while the Android home-screen version is described by one third-party write-up as about 5 MB because it stores a shortcut and a cache, not a full client. The version number 1.0.0 that you see next to "Stake" on APK mirrors comes from those mirrors — APKPure and Aptoide — and not from Stake, and those two mirrors do not even agree on the file size (19.9 MB against 36.5 MB). On Huawei phones without Google services the position is the same as on any other Android handset: add the site to the home screen from a browser.

Installing Stake on Android

To install Stake on Android you do not use an APK — you open the site in Chrome and add it to your home screen, because Stake does not publish an APK and has no Google Play listing. The steps below cover that, then what to check if you decide to take a mirror file anyway.

1. Open Chrome on your Android phone and load the Stake site.
2. Sign in or create your account first, so the session is stored in the installed app.
3. Tap the three-dot menu in the top right of Chrome.
4. Choose "Install app" or "Add to Home screen", whichever your Chrome version shows.
5. Confirm the name and tap Install — the icon appears on your home screen and takes roughly 5 MB.
6. Launch it from the icon: it opens full-screen with no address bar, and updates itself from the server with no store update needed.
7. Check your Android version under Settings → About phone if pages fail to load — Stake's support page sets the floor at Android 12.
8. Stop and reconsider before installing any file called a Stake APK: Stake publishes no APK, no signing certificate and no checksum, so nothing you download from a mirror can be verified against the operator.
9. Compare the size if you proceed anyway — mirror listings for the same version 1.0.0 give 19.9 MB and 36.5 MB, and two different files cannot both be the same build.
10. Read the permission list on the install screen before tapping Accept: a casino client has no working reason to ask for SMS, contacts, call logs or accessibility services.
11. Delete the file and use the home-screen install instead if the package name, developer name or permission list looks unfamiliar.

Installing Stake on iPhone

On iPhone there is a real App Store download, listed at 37.7 MB, with iOS 16 as the minimum according to Stake's own support page.

1. Open the App Store and search for Stake.
2. Check the developer name on the listing before tapping Get — several unrelated apps use similar names and icons.
3. Confirm you have at least iOS 16 under Settings → General → About, and around 40 MB of free storage.
4. Tap Get and authorise the download with Face ID, Touch ID or your Apple ID password.
5. Open the app and sign in with the account you already use on the site — the app is not a separate account.
6. Use Safari instead if the app does not appear in your regional store: load the site, tap Share, then "Add to Home Screen" for a full-screen shortcut.
7. Save your login in iCloud Keychain so Face ID fills it in, rather than storing the password in a notes app.

Installing Stake on Huawei

No source documents a Stake listing in Huawei AppGallery, and Huawei handsets sold since 2019 have no Google Mobile Services, so Petal Search results for "Stake APK" point at the same unverifiable mirrors an Android user would find. The browser route is the one that works.

1. Open Huawei Browser, or any Chromium browser you have installed, and load the Stake site.
2. Sign in to your account before installing, so the shortcut opens on a logged-in session.
3. Tap the browser menu and choose "Add to home screen".
4. Confirm the icon name and place it on your home screen.
5. Open it from the icon — it runs full-screen and needs no Google Play services.
6. Ignore AppGallery search results with Stake branding: no official listing is documented, so anything you find there is by another developer.
7. Avoid Petal Search APK results for the same reason as on Android — there is no Stake-published file to compare them against.

Data-free access in South Africa

Data-free, or zero-rated, access works one way in South Africa: the operator agrees with Vodacom, MTN, Telkom or Cell C that traffic to one specific domain is not billed against your bundle, and that domain is usually a separate address with a distinct suffix. It is not something an app can switch on by itself, and it does not travel with an APK.

App against mobile browser

The catalogue is the same in all three columns — the difference is in what the operating system lets each one do.

Deposits and withdrawals from the app

The cashier inside the app is the same cashier as on the site: same ZAR balance, same methods, same verification state. Whether you fund from Capitec, FNB, Standard Bank, Absa or Nedbank, the minimums, clearing times and any fees are set by the method and not by the platform you tapped it on. When it does not work

A blank or half-loading screen on Android is most often the OS floor. Stake's support page sets the minimum at Android 12, even though APKPure's mirror listing claims Android 5.1 or later works; on a phone running Android 10 or 11 you may get an icon that installs fine and then fails to render the lobby. Check Settings → About phone first. On iPhone the equivalent check is iOS 16, and if the app is missing from your App Store search entirely, that is a regional availability setting on Apple's side, not a fault on your device.

Home-screen installs on Android and Huawei do not update through a store — they refresh from the server. If the interface looks stale or a page will not load after a change on the site, close the icon, open the same address in Chrome, clear site data for the domain in Settings → Site settings, then re-add the icon. That takes about a minute and rebuilds the cache from scratch. If you installed a mirror APK and it now refuses to open or update, uninstall it: there is no Stake-published update channel for a file Stake never published, so it will never update.

Sign-in failures split into three causes. A wrong password locks nothing but wastes attempts; a session that expired inside a home-screen install usually clears by signing out and back in; and a block on the account itself will show the same generic error on app and browser alike, which is how you tell it apart — if the browser also refuses you, the app is not the problem.
